The ice cream flavors are awesome. I tried to maintain my composure and only get a one scoop. The next day I went back for triple. This is such a friendly establishment and an iconic landmark in La Crosse.

I live for finding old school ice cream shops in the Midwest! The Pearl is a vintage confectionary and I've cream parlour on Pearl Street and their selection, service and quality do not disappoint! I enjoyed a delicious sundae with their homemade ice cream. They had a wide selection of homemade chocolate and hard candy, too. Service was prompt and very friendly. Prices were good, too - under $5 for most menu items.

I love going to The Pearl best ice cream in La Crosse hands down. The Pearl vanilla hits the spot every time.

Old school ice cream parlor with treats and penny candies, though they are not priced as pennies now. Excellent place for a cone with waffle cones made on the spot. Try a piece of the mint dipped fudge!

In Lacrosse for the 2014 Freedom Fest and stopped for ice cream on Friday night. There was quite a line which moved quickly. Employees all friendly and lots of retro candy in the candy cases. Had the waffle cone with a double scoop of chocolate peanut butter. Delicious! Recommended.

This place is a city treasure for a reason! It's one of those old school ice cream parlors that you never see in the big cities. First time I came in, I was immediately greeted by two nice girls behind the ice cream bar. They gave me some great recommendations and suggested that I get a two scoop waffle cone. It was by far one of the best ice cream treats that I've had in a while. It was right across from our Holiday Inn, so we made it a habit to stop in and get some desserts after dinner. If you ever find yourself in downtown La Crosse, you gotta go here.

Restaurant Review Good ol fashion ice cream shop. This is something I have not found in the chicago land area. As soon as you walk in, you are whisk away to a old fashion ice cream parlor where you can buy fountain drinks and even candy by the piece. The ice cream itself in the freshly made waffle cone was likely the best ice cream I have ever had. The staff was super friendly and the menu is a ice cream lovers dream. I would highly recommend this place even if you are full! Pro- Inexpensive, kids will love this experience, super nice staff Con- None Hidden deal- This is a piece of americana that you can't miss!

Most likely, you will wait in line, but it is as an event...an exciting, celebratory event where everyone is excited and nobody is huffing and puffing about a small wait. This is by far the bet ice cream parlor I have ever been too. It is such a treat! I am from CA, I've lived in the South for a decade, and kind of an all around geographical hopper...this place is wonderful. Highly recommend. If I wasn't afraid of getting a badonkadonk, I'd have their ice cream and sweets everyday.

A hyper-quaint, small-town, old-fashioned ice cream shop tucked into downtown LAX, Pearl is quite the find. I've gone here twice now, getting a single-scoop cone both times -- once going with the Cappuccino Oreo and once the Mississippi Mud. Both flavors are jaw-droppingly phenomenal, and you get a ton of ice cream for your money. Besides Glace, a ritzy, chef-inspired ice cream parlor in KC, Pearl has the best ice cream I've ever had. If you're in LAX and you don't go here, you're missing out on a gem.

What's not to like about this place. The ice cream is phenomenal. Between my wife and I, we have tried a third of their flavors. My favorite is Mississippi Mud. My favorite dessert to get is simply their chocolate malts. I love this place. I wish we had one in my hometown.

The Pearl is located in the historic pearl Street West Building. The most impressive aspect about the pearl is that it was renovated and improved by the own hand of the owner and his right hand man CHARLIE.The work that they did in creating this landmark confectionery and the banquet hall upstairs is amazing. The pearl is the centerpiece of the city vision renovation work and should stand as is for a couple hundred years much the same as were the intentions of the old world craftsmen that constructed the building in the early 1860's. One of the unique aspects of the design is that they incorporated as much of the pre existing layout and woodwork in their award winning renovation as well as traveling far and wide to locate the proper pieces to match up in a way that is stunningly organic..When the owners started their retail business 40 plus years ago pearl street was mostly biker bars and massage parlors.Over some years they have become the driving forces in the historic movement to bring our downtown back to be something that the community is so proud of today. An Interesting thing about "The Pearl" is that when a few of TJ and Michelle's downtown neighbors such as myself heard what they were doing we were way to short sighted to see what a smart business move it was.The work that they have done on that complex as well as the old 3 dueces building and the old La Crosse furniture building shows the upper level of renovation that can be done in these wonderful unique old buildings that make up the national historic district of La Crosse Wisconsin. And by the way the hand made ice cream is terrific as are the hand made candies.

This ice cream store has everything: fresh waffle cones, good ice cream, a cute decor, and good service. I fully admit that the smell of freshly-made waffle cones was so warm and inviting that I had to love this place within seconds of walking in the door. The decor is an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, also a plus. The ice cream flavors were creative, and the staff was very nice about explaining some of them. Most important, the ice cream (in a waffle cone) was excellent. Those reviewers who compared this ice cream to Breyers or Cold Stone are missing a few taste buds. The chocolates were good not great, but is there such a thing as bad chocolate? There's outdoor seating, weather permitting.

I have enjoyed this place in the past but you won't see me enter again. I wanted an ice cream cone tonight but I needed to spend a minimum of five dollars to use my card. Stupid!!

I haven't been here since I was kid. I tried the cappuccino oreo ice cream. Perfect coffee flavor with oreos meshed in. The place mimics a 1930s ice cream parlor even though the business is only 15 years old. There's a coffee shop attached to the ice cream parlor with the same decor. The manager is an 89-year-old man who continues to clock in 40 hours a week, the employee told me. The manager wasn't there when I walked in. His son actually owns the ice cream parlor, but I think the manager is the heart and soul of the place.

Great ice cream and an old-fashioned store with candies and confections on the side. Stays open all year round. Has the standard ice cream flavors and some unique flavors. Usually around 20 flavors. I would come back.

Great, authentic ice cream parlor. I heard once that the guy who started it actually went out and found some original soda fountain cabinets and restored them. Love the history. The ice cream it's outstanding but try the sodas, malts, or shakes. Nobody makes them quite like that anymore.

The Pearl Ice Cream is wonderful. Their homemade waffle cones are delicious as well as all of the ice cream flavors that I have tried. I especially enjoy the Cappuccino Oreo and the turtle sundaes.

I only went here once and I wasn't terribly impressed. I got some coffee ice cream something with cashews and it was good, just not earthshatteringly good like I was expecting. The inside of the place is cute, old fashioned with a candy store too. If it's summer and you really have the urge for an ice cream cone go for it, but if it's just ice cream that you're looking for save some money and get a gallon of Breyers from the supermarket.

Ice cream was very good. Great atmostphere. No credit cards. Pricing is about as expensive as you expect for an ice cream parlor to be. My friend ordred a cherry soda fountain and it was flat instead of fizzy. Otherwise they could have had 5 stars.

Almost home to MN, when I realized I was sweating and in need of some ice cream- stat. I stopped in and it took all my might not to look at the taunting candy to my left. I managed to focus and ended up with a cup of mint chip, which I thoroughly enjoyed while strolling around the river.

Old fashion ice cream parlor in the heart of downtown. Has the best ice cream in the summer months. They also have old fashion candies and soda. In the warmer months you can grab a cone and head down to the park and enjoy the views. It is located in a historic building with the feel of an candy shop.

"Black Licorice Ice Cream?" The worker behind the counter replied that the name was "very accurate". I have to say, I am a huge fan of all things black licorice including Ouzo, Sambucca, and Jagermeister, but this is a review of an ice cream shop and candy store, not a liquor store. I tried the black licorice ice cream and it was fantastic. To my surprise, not only was the ice cream flavored but also it was filled with chunks of black licorice. But maybe I haven't convinced you. Fortunately for those who have an anise/Glycyrrhiza glabra-phobia, they have many other flavors: blue moon for the kiddos, cappucino-oreo, peanut butter cup, fruity flavors, I could go on. And yet, I have not gotten to the real star of Peal Ice Cream Parlor & Confectionery: the chocolates and candies. This is one of the few places in La Crosse where you are able to buy all sorts of confectiony goodness. From the traditional turtle, to all sorts of truffles, to the "walking s'more" (that's a s'more on a stick) you'll be in chocolate heaven. I only have 2 complaints: they don't take credit cards, so it's either cash or a local check, and there is a severe lack of seating both inside and out.

A great little ice cream place downtown La Crosse. Made for a nice relaxing walk from the campus area during the summer. Grab a girl and take a stroll down to the Pearl. The homemade ice cream is great, and they have lots of different old fashioned and unusual candy as well.

Homemade ice cream made in the land of dairy made by cheeseheads? I don't think anyone can go wrong here... unless you order the blue moon, which apparently tastes like fruit loops and is really really blue.
